February traditionally focuses on themes of love and happiness. However, as a connection to the unerring power of love, I choose to compassionately validate the hurt that many people are feeling at this time.

People are hurting                                                                                                                              hurting across the land                                                                                                               hurting all over their bodies                                                                                                           deep in their souls                                                                                                                            they hurt for a moment                                                                                                                   they hurt for a lifetime                                                                                                                     they hurt for a loved one                                                                                                                 they hurt for a friend

yes, they are hurt                                                                                                                               hurt by a past                                                                                                                                  oppressed by a present                                                                                                            devastated by a future                                                                                                                     yes, they are hurt

hurt by race                                                                                                                                           by sex                                                                                                                                                     by lies                                                                                                                                                     by greed                                                                                                                                              they are imprisoned                                                                                                                                      by the streets                                                                                                                                             by the church                                                                                                                                          by lifestyle                                                                                                                                             by beliefs 

yes, they are hurt                                                                                                                                      by loss                                                                                                                                                        by rage                                                                                                                                                        by fear                                                                                                                                                     by pain    

yes, they are hurt                                                                                                                                     the hurt is small                                                                                                                                        the hurt is tremendous                                                                                                                            it wears a mask                                                                                                                                         it wears a grin                                                                                                                                                   it harms our children                                                                                                                                  it grieves our elders                                                                                                                        destroys our nation                                                                                                                                    it promises much gain                                                                                                                   but brings great loss                                                                                                                                the hurt is silent                                                                                                                                            the hurt shrieks with pain                                                                                                                         when will it stop                                                                                                                                          how can it stop                                                                                                                                      when does it end                                                                                                                                    where is our healing station?
